The Minolta Maxxum 600si (also known as Dynax 600si Classic in Europe and α-507si in Japan), released in 1995, is a 35mm autofocus SLR camera renowned for its enthusiast-friendly design and tactile control interface, featuring dedicated knobs and dials for exposure compensation, flash compensation, mode selection, and drive modes— a deliberate "step backward" from menu-heavy predecessors that influenced later models like the Maxxum 7 and 9. It employs a Minolta A-mount for interchangeable lenses, an electronic vertical-travel focal plane shutter (30s to 1/4000s + Bulb), and a 14-segment honeycomb-pattern TTL metering system (EV 0-20 at ISO 100, ISO 6-6400). Autofocus is handled by a three-CCD phase-detection system with wide-area coverage (EV -1 to 19), supporting single/continuous/predictive modes and 2 fps burst shooting. The built-in retractable flash has a guide number of 12 (ISO 100) with red-eye reduction and wireless control compatibility, while the ergonomic body (156x98x73.5mm, 565g) uses one 2CR5 lithium battery. Praised for its intuitive usability and reliability in the film era, the 600si remains a cult favorite for beginners and pros alike!
